Abstract

A chronological perspective of Human Resource Management (HRM) in Spain is adopted in order to offer a general overview of the evolution of the personnel function in Spanish companies and to understand the present situation of HRM in Spain. Covers five periods separately: (1) HRM during the Franco regime (2) The economic crisis and political transition (3) HRM during the 1980s: from the economic crisis to economic recovery, and (4) HRM in today′s Spain. Finally, gives special consideration to the impact of the Single European Market on HRM practices in Spain.
