Abstract
In article number 2008400, Molly S. Shoichet and co-workers demonstrate macrophage invasion into an oxime-crosslinked cryogel comprised of gelatin-oxyamine and hyaluronan-aldehyde. The macrophages migrate by actively degrading the matrix and through the pores. IL4/IL13-stimulated cells (flat cells) migrate further than IFNγ/LPS-stimulated cells (spikey cells). These cryogels allow for emulating the extracellular environment of cancer—a key parameter in macrophage invasion. Image concept by Laura Bahlmann and created by Ella Maru Studio.
