Abstract

The placenta is the single organ that simultaneously expresses each of the non-classical MHC class I antigens - HLA- E, F, and G and a single class I antigen HLA-C. We recently demonstrated dynamic and differential expression patterns of HLA-G, C and F during early EVT invasion and placentation. In this study we investigate the hypothesis that the immune inflammatory mediated complications of pregnancy such as early preeclampsia and preterm labor, may show distinct EVT specific expression profiles of non-classical HLA.
