Abstract

Summary 1. A case of intestinal myiasis in a boy due to the larvae of the “soldier-fly,” Hermetia illucens Linné, is reported. This is apparently the second human case to be recorded. 2. Descriptions of the larva and adult fly are given. 3. The larvae caused symptoms of local irritation in the stomach and rectum, and spells of fainting. 4. They were apparently acquired by eating raw fruit or vegetables on which the eggs of the fly had been deposited.
