Abstract

A model of information processing in human problem solving behaviour (information processing as a continuously information reducing and information generating process) is analyzed in relation to the crystallized and fluid aspect of intelligence. The postulated relations (information reduction with crystallized and information generation with fluid intelligence) are confirmed by the statistical analyses. Moreover, the results yielded evidence for the assumption that the influence of the heuristic part of the cognitive structure (intelligence operator) is decreasing with proceeding information processing because it is integrated into the epistemic part of the cognitive structure (cognitive complexity).
