Abstract

1. 1. Haemoblobin A 2, a normal minor component of human blood, has been compared with the normal major haemoglobin A by digestion with trypsin and by characterisation of the resulting peptides on fingerprints. 2. 2. No differences in amino acid sequences have been found between the α-peptide chain of haemoglobin A and A 2. The other (δ) chains of haemoglobin A 2 have been found to differ from the β chains of haemoglobin A in at least four places. In addition a new tryptic peptide, peculiar to haemoglobin A 2, has been found.
