Abstract

Cyclic AMP phosphodiesterase from human platelets is strongly inhibited by dipyridamole, an antagonizer of platelet aggregation, and only slightly by psychotropic drugs. The reverse situation is observed with the brain enzyme. Distinct electrophoretic patterns of phosphodiesterase are found in these tissues. The existence of different isoenzymes may explain differential drug sensitivity.
