Abstract

Protein Energy Malnutrition, which is 19,6% in 2013, is still a major nutritional problem in Indonesia. Meanwhile, from general population view, there is a condition that may contribute as potency of nutritional problem, whis is family characteristics, espesially number of children. Family’s economic status, number of children, mother education etc commonly interesting factor by many researcher, which the result of the research is variety by area. The objective of this study is to identify the influence of family’s economic status, number of children, mother’s education to nutritional status of under-five-age children in these family in Ajung Sub-district, District of Jember, East Java. The reseach type is quantitative study using the cross sectional design, in which the research objects are under-five age children. The Chi-Square are used for the analysis. There is significant relation between family’s economic status to the nutritional status of under five age children in bivariat analisis (X 2 counted = 4,639 > X 2 table = 3,841). Other variables being studied in this research, number of children is no significant and mother’s education are significantly related to the nutritional status of under-five age children. There is difference of the nutritional status between under-five-age children living with high economic status family and low economic status family.
