Abstract

Nutritional status is a state of the body caused by the balance of nutrient intake with its needs. Nutritional status can be influenced by various factors, one of which is demographic status, such as age, gender, parents' education level, parents' income and number of family members. Physical activity is closely related to maintaining physical, mental health and maintaining quality of life so that the body becomes healthier and fitter every day. This study aims to analyze the relationship between sociodemographic (age, gender, father's education, mother's education, parents' income and family size) and physical activity on nutritional status in elementary school children. This research method uses a cross sectional design with a quantitative research design. This research was conducted at SDN Sukaluyu IV. The population of this study were students in grades 4-6 with a total of 296 students. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Determination of the sample in this study using the Slovin formula with a sample of 120 respondents, statistical tests in this study using Spearman. The results showed that there was no relationship between age (p-value > 0.644), gender (p-value > 0.388), father's education (p-value > 0.777), mother's education (p-value > 0.525), parents' income ( p-value > 0.256) and the number of family members (p-value > 894) with nutritional status. The results of this study also showed that there was no relationship between physical activity (p-value > 0.731) and the nutritional status of school-age children. The conclusion of this study is that there is no relationship between sociodemography with nutritional status and physical activity with nutritional status in school-age children.
