Abstract

Breast milk is the nutrition a baby needs in the first six months after birth. Providing a substitute for mother's milk (PASI) before a child is six months old is not recommended, because it can increase the possibility of contamination and increase the risk of disease, especially diarrhea. At this age the nutritional needs of infants obtained from breast milk only cover 60% of the rest must be obtained from additional food. Complementary feeding of at least 6 months of age is due to the baby's digestion at an earlier age is not perfect and if it is forced to cause pain because of feeding too fast and the immunity against bacteria is still low. The purpose is the correlation of knowledge and family support for the provision of complementary food (MP-ASI) for infants aged 6-12 months in the Bumi Agung Pesawaran year 2020. This type of quantitative research is analytic research design with cross sectional approach. The population is all mothers in the working area to the posyandu Bumi Agung who have children aged 6-12 months as many as 57 respondents. The sampling technique in this study uses total sampling. Analysis of the data used using the chi square test. The results of data analysis and processing found that there is a correlation between mother's knowledge and complementary feeding (MP-ASI) in infants aged 6-12 months obtained p-value 0.003 (<0.05) with an odds ratio of 6.349 (20.461-1.970). There is a relationship of family support for the provision of complementary foods (MP-ASI) in infants aged 6-12 months obtained p-value 0.008 (<0.05) with an odds ratio of 6.349 (20.461-1.970). It is expected that the results of this study can provide information and knowledge about the provision of MPASI and its effects. It is expected that mothers give exclusive breastfeeding for up to 6 months without MPASI. Reducing the provision of MPASI is too early for the baby to get full ASI rights. Reducing the provision of MP-ASI as early as possible so that babies are only given ASI only. Keywords : Knowledge, Family Support, Complementary Foods
