Abstract

Preschool is a moment when children have a high sensitivity due to social contact and communication that affect how they interact with their surroundings. Gadgets are a form of technological advancement with a variety of models that can attract preschoolers. The uncontrolled use of gadgets has several implications for their social development. This study aims to analyze the relation between device usage time and the social development of children aged 4 to 6 years in Orobulu Village, Rembang District, Pasuruan Regency. The researcher used a purposive sampling method that included a total of 83 respondents. The results showed that 57 respondents (68.7%) who used gadgets with high intensity could be grouped into 2 based on their social development. Thirty-seven (44.6%) respondents had normal social development, and 20 (24.1%) were in suspect social development. H0 is disproved by data analysis using the Chi-Square test with p = 0.000 0.05. Therefore, it can be inferred that there is a significant connection between gadget use and social development in preschool children (4-6 years old) in Orobulu village, Rembang District, Pasuruan Regency.
