Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between conformity and brand switching to powder brands in class XII female adolescents at SMA Negeri 2 Lintau Buo, Lintau Buo District, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra Province. The independent variable in this study is conformity while the dependent variable is brand switching. Measuring tools used in this study are the conformity scale and brand switching. The sampling technique in this study used a saturated sampling technique. The sample in this study were 104 class XII girls at SMA Negeri 2 Lintau Buo, Kec. Tanah Datar, Prov. West Sumatra. Test the validity and reliability in this study using Alpha Cronbach technique. The results of the validity coefficient on the conformity scale moved from rix = 0.312 to rix = 0.715 with a reliability coefficient value of α = 0.905 while the results of the validity coefficient on the brand switching scale moved from rix = 0.311 to rix = 0.751 with a reliability coefficient value of α = 0.914. Based on data analysis, a correlation value of 0.764 was obtained with a significance level of 0.000, which means that the hypothesis is accepted. This shows that there is a strong and significant relationship between conformity and brand switching to powder brands in class XII female adolescents at SMAN 2, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra Province.
