Abstract

The qualitative and quantitative determination of diterpenoids in the hexane and methanol extracts of eight species of the genus Sideritis (Labiatae) has been carried out for the first time using a reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography method. Knowledge of the diterpenoid content can be correlated with their pharmacological activity and their use can be validated in folk medicine as anti-inflammatory agents. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
