Abstract

ABSTRACTA rapid high‐performance chromatographic (HPLC) method for phytic acid was developed and applied to wheat and rice bran, beans and feces. The method gives more reproducible results than those obtained by other methods tested and is more rapid than methods using ferric chloride precipitation. The phytic acid contents of bran, bean and feces samples were determined by three methods, including the new HPLC method. For most samples, the methods gave significantly different results.
