Abstract

The goal of our study was to appreciate drug induced liver disorders in the services of hepato-gastro-enterology of the CHU Gabriel-Touré and Internal medicine of the CHU of Point “G”. Our study was longitudinal and prospective from January to December 2006. It was about patients having drug induced liver injuries in the absence of any other cause of hepatopathy. The patients were examined and underwent paraclinic tests to confirm the hepatic attack and to eliminate causes other than drugs. At the end of this study, 27 patients answered our criteria, including 9 men and 18 women of an average age of 36.7 ± 11.9 years (extreme: 16–75 years). A concept of regular drug intake was found at 81.5% of the patients. The clinical signs were dominated by fever (70.4%) and arthralgies (62.9%). Jaundice was noted in 77.8% of the patients. A combination of lamivudine, stavudine and nevirapine (Triomune®) was more accused (48.1%). Mortality was 25.9%. Drug induced liver disorders are not exceptional inMali. They must be required because of their evolutionary potential towards a hepatocellulaire insufficiency.
