Abstract
Summary Lao PDR is virtually botanically unexplored. Among recent collections from the limestone mountains in Vang Vieng, a new Hoya species has been identified. The new species, Hoya vangviengiensis Rodda & Simonsson is similar to Hoya carnosa (L.f) R.Br. since both species have acute outer corona lobes and present clear sap; however, the new species can be easily distinguished by the different growth habit, the prominent leaf venation, the number of flowers and colour of the corona.
