Abstract

Introduction: The management of acute airway emergencies can be a difficult andoften frightening experience for the juniors involved who are often the first attenders when problems arise. Failures to secure the airway can drastically increase morbidity and mortality of patients within a very short time. Confidence in the management of airway problems is variable and does not correlate well with perceived adequacy of training. New staff have varied levels of experience and ability in the management of airway emergencies.
