Abstract
This paper deeply investigates how to support real-time traffic of urgent aperiodic messages using Foundation Fieldbus (FF). This paper shows that, despite FF providing such mechanisms as PT priority and PT rotation period, etc., FF can't effectively guarantee real-time traftic of urgent aperiodic message that is shown in its worst-case response time. The main contribution of this paper is to find the deficiency of current mechanism and proposes a new one. Further, this paper gives methodologies for setting SCT under the new mechanism.
