Abstract

This paper introduces the reader to Bobby Baker's latest piece of live art How to Shop: The Lecture, which was commissioned by the London International Festival of Theatre in 1993. How to Shop is the second show in a series of five entitled Daily Life. Following a brief description of the work, is an edited interview between Bobby Baker, Polonca Baloh‐Brown and Alison Oddey. This interview explores the collaborative process of making How to Shop, indentifying initial ideas for content and form, the progression and development of Baker's work from solo artist to group collaboration, the role of co‐director, and use of technology in performance.
