Abstract

Although there are few books about the art of poster presentation, many of the suggestions outlined here are discussed further by Simmonds (1986). A poster has very different functions from those of a paper or an oral presentation. It is particularly good as a means of introducing the presenter to interested observers and allowing an informal exchange of ideas. It is therefore important for the presenter to be available for discussion. However, it does require a fair amount of planning and effort to do justice to the work being presented.
