How to Predict Reversibility of End-organ Function after LVAD Implantation under BTC Policy

Abstract

In the era of continuous-flow pump, LVAD implantation has proven an excellent prognosis and can expect better recovery in end-organ function. In this regard, it is extremely important to predict the reversibility of end-organ function preoperatively if we implant LVAD under the policy of bridge to candidacy (BTC). We constructed a novel scoring with age to predict persistent end-organ dysfunction after LVAD implantation. The scorings also include preoperative levels of total bilirubin or creatinine in terms of hepatic or renal function, respectively.
