Abstract
In this issue of Acta Physiologica, Manneck et al. describe the expression of different types of TRP (transient receptor potential) cation channels in the intestinal wall of pigs, with special emphasis on TRPV3 and TRPV4 (transient receptor potential vanilloid type 3 and 4). Both of them are preferentially expressed in the gastrointestinal mucosa based on qPCR data comparing their expression in the mucosal and the muscle layer of different intestinal segments.
