Abstract

ABSTRACTThe rapid rise of creative industries park has become a new trend. On the whole, China's practice of park development has been far ahead of its theories, and the lack of theoretical guidance has become a bottleneck in restricting the rapid and healthy development of China's creative industries. By drawing a lesson from the new economic geography and using the improved ‘core-periphery’ model, the article studies the formation mechanism of the Beijing 798 Art Zone and reveals the problems of its development. Subsequently, some suggestions are put forward: on the one hand, the central area should retain the sources of creativity by protecting the originality, controlling the rents and building a platform; on the other hand, the surrounding area should fully catch the chance resulting from the agglomerating and radiating effect of the 798 Art Zone and further develop the local creative resources. On this basis, the development of China's creative parks should adhere to the principles of prophase programming, medium-term overall planning and the protection of the late stage.
