Abstract

The Israel–Palestine conflict is characterized by asymmetries in power and resources. The best option for justice is the emergence of two neighboring states that cooperate in dealing equitably with their diverse citizens. This will bring greater honor and security to Jews throughout the world. However, if John Mearsheimer and others are correct that the goal of a two‐state solution is now so unlikely that it is tantamount to fantasy, then we can only hope that the growth of an increasingly militarized apartheid state under Israeli control will lead quickly to a democratic bi‐national state dominated by the Palestinian majority, and that a minimum of violence and injustice will plague Palestinians and Israelis in the interim.
