Abstract

Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is an important field in oncology as it provides the tools needed to select the best available options for a better management of cancer patients and also for the whole decision-making process. Meta-analyses of randomized and controlled clinical trials are categorized in the high-level of evidence as they provide pooled results from several studies. This article type aims to comprehensively provide a synthesis of oncology literature in an unbiased, precise, and reproducible manner. However, a critical assessment of meta-analyses needs an advanced knowledge in biostatistics and critical reading methods. In this workshop, a methodic step-by-step examination will provide the needed information for oncologists and cancer researchers to critically appraise a meta-analysis of randomized and controlled trials with a particular focus on a clinical problem in neuro-oncology practice. Keywords : meta, -analysisn oncology literature, critical assessment, neuro-oncology practice
