Abstract
In this work we use a diagrammatic procedure to construct a Green's function for the elementary excitations in a film, starting with those of a semi-infinite medium. We end up with a very simple method which can be applied to different types of excitations. In this way, the method allows us to simplify the calculation and to point out the similarity between different excitations.
