Abstract
Let me start with some definitions. By multimedia, I do not mean those computers that display pictures and sound. We can take it for granted that within a year or so every new personal computer will come equipped with a compact disc-read only memory (CD-ROM) and a sound card as standard equipment, just as color video graphics array (VGA) and large hard drives are standard equipment today. Nor do I mean what many refer to as the fusion of television and computers, or interactive television, or what I call “prime-time computers.”
