Abstract
The Second World War, and particularly the Bengal Famine, have brought out poignantly how much Indian Agriculture and the Indian Farmer were neglected. The emphasis in the previous regime was mostly on bullock and manual labour, which has landed the nation today in an acute food shortage. A few demonstrations with tractors and mouldboard ploughs were held, at a few research stations of this vast sub-continent and the visitors looked on it more as a tamasha.
