Alexander Graham Bell said th at if you leave the beaten track occasionally and drive into the woods you will be sure to find something you have never seen before. This may be said in a different way. Leave the classroom occasionally and go outside to the school yard to measure buildings, trees, or a flagpole. How can these items be measured? All of these structures can be measu red by using indirect measurement techniques. The equipment needed is inexpensive.
