Abstract
We have numerically obtained the effective mass of the composite fermion in the fractional quantum Hall system by fitting the low-lying excitation spectrum for finite systems to the Fermi liquid spectrum for composite fermions with Landau parameters for various odd- and even-fraction the Landau level fillings and various values of the interaction range. The effective mass is shown to exhibit a curious staircase-like behavior, while the Landau parameters are anomalous in that they depend on the system size as well as the range.
