Abstract

The technical performance score (TPS) has been investigated across numerous studies as a tool to assess residual lesions after congenital heart surgery.1,2 TPS has been shown to be associated with both early and late outcomes and is defined by echocardiographic assessment, graded as class 1 (no residua), class 2 (minor residua), and class 3 (major residua). Traditionally TPS has been evaluated using the discharge echocardiogram (DC-TPS). However, this approach is limited in that it does not provide assessment at the time of the operation, nor allow for intervention at that time or during the hospital period.
