Abstract

Recently, the experimental data on 1 1P1 states in cc and bb systems have been explained by a spin-independent potential consisting of a short-range colour Coulomb potential VCoul(r) and a long-range confining interaction (such as a linear, power-law or harmonic interaction) which are scalar-vector admixtures with the scalar part dominant, the spin-dependent potential being given by the reduction of the Bethe-Salpeter kernel into the Breit interaction. The same model is now found to give a good fit to the data on S-wave mesons such as Mv2-MP2 approximately=0.56 GeV2 for a suitable combination of quark masses.
