Abstract

Population displacement has become prevalent and more visible worldwide during the last four decades. Displacement, an issue discussed primarily within the context of international politics, has increasingly become of central concern to the States, which view forced migration as a political issue involving questions of citizenship and inter-regional security. The cases of migrants of Palestine, Darfur, Sri Lanka and India mentioned in the paper point to a common ideology of forced migrants having their own conception of ‘home’ which they remember even years after being forced to leave (for reasons mentioned above). What characterizes the South Asian region as different with others is their contestations on caste, nationality, place and religion, etc.
