Abstract
Entrepreneurs conduct practical experiments as they invent new ways of doing business as often as they invent new services and products to sell. Maureen McKelvey and Astrid Lassen have produced a book composed of case studies of such experiments as a companion to their conceptual book: Managing Knowledge Intensive Entrepreneurship, which was published later in 2013. The second book presents their theoretical framework for understanding the decisions and processes involved in knowledge intensive entrepreneurship (KIE). Few earlier works have been so focused on the relationship of advanced knowledge and entrepreneurial activity where company founders capitalize on scientific and engineering knowledge to start a new firm. The combination of the two books provides a thorough coverage of both theory and practice. The two books are related to the AEGIS Project which involved faculty from 30 universities across Europe (see <http://ec.europa.eu/research/social-sciences/projects/349_en.html> accessed 28 February 2014) and uses the same definition of KIE as does the AEGIS Project.
