Abstract
The article discusses research relating to the impact of employee empowerment on manufacturing performance. The research indicates that a commitment approach results in higher labor efficiency. This approach focuses on shaping desirable employee behavior and attitudes in order to develop highly motivated and committed employees. Labor turnover was found to be higher in firms that used a rule-oriented control approach. This approach attempts to reduce labor costs and improve efficiency by enforcing employee compliance with specified rules and procedures.
