Abstract

This paper aims to explore how effective functions of an online fan community called Super Topics on Chinese social media called Sina Weibo to enhance the experience of fans. Through the survey of 100 fans in Henry Laus fan community, combined with secondary research, this work comes to the conclusion that the hashtags, post-classification, and fan management in the Super Topics are helpful for fans to gain pleasant star-chasing experience transcending geographical and time constraints. This paper can be used as a reference for the functional design of social media platforms to gain insight into the entertainment needs and expectations of online community groups.
