Abstract
Trust-based recommender systems have got rapid development in recent several years, but in the dummy network social such as Facebook, which properties does trust have? How should researchers take use of these properties to construct proper trust models in recommender systems? This paper discusses the properties of trust relationship in the network society, and take www.epinions.com as an example to emphasize the importance of the properties of trust in trust-based recommendation. Through the analysis of our experiments, in the experiment of www.epinions.com, the properties of trust, maily including symmetry and transitivity, are ontrary to our normal understanding. Meanwhile, the symmetry is more dependable and valuable than transitivity in recommender systems.
