Abstract
The biliary and hepatic progenitor cell marker keratin 19 is often found in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who have a poor prognosis. However, it is currently unclear why these tumours behave more aggressively than other HCC tumours. A new study by Olivier Govaere (University Hospitals Leuven, Belgium) and colleagues has investigated the keratin-19-positive phenotype.
