Abstract
This month's question asks how to convince policymakers and managers of the importance of operator training and certification. The answer discusses a trend in rural areas that has lead to an increase in ethanol‐fueled facilities that require a higher‐level operator certification, along with new regulatory issues that require increased testing and treatment by operators. The article provides suggestions on methods for communicating to local water system boards, mayors, and city or town councils the importance of operator training to meet these new challenges.
