Abstract

The survey treats the way in which the external debt of Germany was settled after World War II from Federal Republic of Germany. The author emphasis on a political situation in the world and Germany after the World War II, afterwards he outlines the rules for a foreign debt settlement, giving the healthy and unhealthy scenario. After that he gives the factors on which such renegotiation depends. In the survey are given details of London club Negotiations with Germany – the initial requests and how they were renegotiated by the top German Banker Herman Josef Abs (Chief negotiator from German side). The debt reduction is outlined as well as relief clauses.
