Abstract

This article discusses removal processes for organic contaminants such as natural organic matter (NOM), synthetic volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), herbicides, pesticides, and naturally occuring organic contaminants such as algal toxins and taste and odor compounds. Removal technologies discussed include coagulation‐ filtration‐sedimentation vs. conventional treatment, adsorption, oxidation, filtration, and air stripping.
