Abstract

Scientific attitude is important in the learning and learning process. Scientific attitudes are needed because attitudes will affect student learning outcomes. This study aimed to describe the scientific attitude of students on the material of the buffer solution. The type of research was survey research with the instrument used is a questionnaire. There were 70 students on 11th grade in a high school at Sleman participated in this study. Data collected by means of a questionnaire consisting of 22 statements concerning aspects of scientific attitude. Researchers focus on 5 aspects of scientific attitude, namely curiosity, critical thinking, open-mindedness, honesty, and responsibility. The data were analyzed by categorizing the scores of students' responses to scientific attitudes using the ordinal or level categorization method. The results of the analysis of students' scientific attitudes were obtained from every aspect, namely curiosity in the good category, critical thinking in the medium category, open thinking in the medium category, honesty in the high category, and responsibility in the very high category. This research results can be used as initial information for the teacher to take an action for optimizing the level of students’ scientific attitude at the school concerned.
