Abstract

In the present study, 416 Chinese senior high school students completed the Extraversion Subscale of the NEO Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) and an Exhibitionism questionnaire, and reported the number of selfies they posted on WeChat friends' circle within the last month. Findings revealed that the number of selfies was significantly and positively associated with extraversion and exhibitionism. In addition, the relation between extraversion and the number of selfies was stronger for boys than for girls. This study provides the first empirical evidence for positive relations among extraversion, exhibitionism, and Chinese teenagers' selfie-posting behaviors on WeChat friends' circle.
