Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To determine whether an endometrial stripe thickness less than 5 mm on transvaginal ultrasound (TVUS) is sufficient to exclude benign intracavitary endometrial lesions in postmenopausal women who present with bleeding and to determine a cutoff value below which benign endometrial pathology could be ruled out in order to eliminate the need for saline infusion sonography (SIS).
