Abstract
An approved five‐year renewal of New Jersey's Section 1115 Medicaid demonstration initiative will enhance the state's efforts to address the health‐related social needs of beneficiaries, including those with mental illness. The Medicaid waiver program will allow for coverage of housing services, such as transitional housing support for individuals experiencing homelessness, and will strengthen requirements for Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) to employ dedicated housing specialists and to track beneficiaries' progress toward housing stability.
