Abstract
This article has outlined the approach and the organization of the policy for experiments in low-cost housing in the Netherlands. The SEV provides a platform for the modernization of social housing. Experimentation is a serious business. The SEV supports experiments financially and with know-how. When the experiments are evaluated, the knowledge gained is passed along. Then, recommendations are made to the minister of housing. But the most important underlying motive for experimentation for the SEV, as well as for initiators of experiments, is that modernization brings satisfaction.
