Abstract

Background: In recent years, Injuries have always been regarded as a serious health problem, one of the leading causes of death in children under 16 years in the world as well as in Vietnam. Most of cases occurred in child’ household. The aims of this study to developed a modeling intervention to prevented injuries of children through safe houses model. Methods: A intervention study comparing the case - control group in the community. Study subjects were children under 16 and their parents, careers. A total of 6044 households in three intervention communes and 1360 households in five non-intervention communes. The intervention model was built and developed at children house. The risk of injuries in children at their home were follow up and assessment in every three-months. Interview technique and observation housing were used to collected data. Results: A total household in intervention and non-intervention communes were 6.044 and 1360 respectively. The ration injuries per 10.000 household were 344.14 and 830.88 in intervention and nonintervention communes. The number of injuries per 10.000 children in the intervention commune was 212.1 and this number of non-intervention was 474.3. Mortality rate of children at 0.03% and non-intervention as 0.04%. The proportion of households are assessed as safe for the risk factors causing injuries to children increase over time interventions. Conclusion: Children are vulnerable subjects lack of understanding and the potential risk to cause injury to the child. Building safe homes, that solutions should be considered to help prevent injuries to children. Key words: Injury, children under 16 years old, safe houses, Buon Ma Thuot
