Abstract
Abstract: “Hourglass” combines images of erosion and bar-room pool to discuss concepts of breakage and the redemptive force of listening to stories, with a nod to the web/yarn-spinning spider. “Corduroy is a morning in America” uses visual, personal, and etymological impressions of corduroy—plus Reagan’s 1984 campaign line—to link a dawn ski run with concern over right-veering U.S. politics.
