Abstract

Calculations have been carried out to investigate the differences between multiphoton absorption in SF6 from the ground vibrational state and low-lying bending-mode states, using currently available estimates of the intermode mixing parameters G 3n , S 3n and T 3n . It is shown that in addition to being anharmonically shifted, the multiphoton absorption spectrum from the v 4 state is anharmonically broadened and shows less pronounced structure than the equivalent absorption spectrum from the ground state.
