Abstract

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is common and life-threatening Emergency Department (ED) diagnosis. Multiple validated risk stratification tools exist to help evaluate for PE and reduce unnecessary imaging. Despite these tools, there is still significant over-investigation for PE and low value testing persists. This study asks ED providers what are the barriers and facilitators to uptake of validated risk stratification tools in evaluation of PE.
